about

It started with a seed — the idea to create a site to help my brown-thumbed urban friends bring more green into their lives, maybe grow some food, and inspire small steps toward a more sustainable world. Since then I’ve learned something very important: those things don’t stop with the garden. We need to cultivate sustainability, resiliency, and healthy choices for ourselves, our families, and our planet in all parts of our lives.

For me, that meant trading a secure, high-paying job, the town I grew up in, my friends and family, and yes, my garden, for a life with more freedom, meaning, and peace. I think I may have found it. And I’d like to share it with you.

My name is Lauren (aka gardenlore). I am a writer, a poet, a quilter, a devotee of eating clean, a closet survivalist, a passive activist, and, of course, a gardener. And I do it all in a 300 square foot home.

Welcome to my world.
